Consider the wedding location and time of the year. For example, autumn nuptials lend themselves to rustic reds, yellow and burnt oranges. When designing your mood board, stick to your favourite hues but keep it to four for a sense of unity. Note the colours in your venues drapery, to prevent any last minute clashes.
Lighting is very important in marquees and will set the mood. You have a blank canvas which needs character. Coloured lighting can be effective for creating adding warmth and later on, a party atmosphere.
Consistency is key. For example is you use blue on your invitations, reinforce it with table runners and sashes in the same colour. Paper Lanterns and parasols are a cost effective way to brighten a marquee – and they glow when filtering sunlight (great for photos) or lit up at night. Vases and candleholders/candelabras evoke a sense of drama and occasion, while softer colours create a romantic feel.
